Winnipeg’s The Uniter magazine recently reviewed Violet Miranda: Girl Pirate:
The comic is entertaining, but it has the problem of being somewhere between an alternative comic and a traditional comic. It’s not arty enough to be one and the story isn’t fantastic enough to be the other.
Hmm… They weren’t crazy about it, but said some nice things about me and A Girl Like Sugar in passing. I’m discovering that when I first envision a new writing project, I don’t give much thought as to genre or readership. Maybe that’s a problem…? I suppose more business-savvy authors would know that ahead of time.
Anyway, more media about Violet has recently appeared online:
- A review at Sequential Tart, the webzine about women in comics.
- An article about Willow titled Girls who bite, draw and fly, on TheTyee.ca.
- A fabulous interview, post-Toronto Comic Arts Festival, with Willow on Silver Bullet Comics.
