Happy Post Crazy Days!

Filed under: Friends and Family — Emily @ 11:42 pm

Happy MenorahSo, yeah, not the best holiday season I’ve ever had, but my various family events are now over. Phew.

Jess and I survived the following things this year (in order of increasing intensity):

  • the first draft of revisions to my new novel,
  • vicious shoppers and drivers,
  • visits from my sister (who lives in Montreal) and then my mother (who lives in Bass River, New Brunswick)–they both stayed with us,
  • my dad having recurring chest pains just a few months after having had a serious stroke,
  • a family member being shot on the street in Parkdale on Xmas eve,
  • and the tragic gun death of a family friend who was only 23.

What is it, the 6th of January? That’s a pretty impressive list for two weeks! Kind of depressing, but it’s really clear now why I’m writing crime fiction. Damn.

Oh, did I mention I now have the flu? Yep. Here’s to hoping the holidays weren’t as stressful for the rest of you, and that 2007 just gets better around here…

  1. I met your sister in Montréal! She was complaining about the lack of receiving a certain publication of yours. :]

  2. Frandroid, She’s pretty awesome, eh? Yeah, I think she mentioned that she’d met “a guy selling a bunch of different zines” at the fair. Must be you. ;)

And don’t worry, she’s got the latest couple issues of KM now…

  3. Sounds like a bad end for the year. My condolences. My daughter ended up with the same long cold we did, which wasn’t fun, to say the least, and resulted in one all-nighter spent in a hospital due to our paranoia about her mild fever.

  4. James–it was a bad end for the year. But the good news is the police have finally arrested the shooter… Big relief…
