Quality kids’ book publisher Annick Press has accepted my proposal for a young adult mystery series! They plan to publish the first novel in fall, 2006. I’ve been semi-obsessed with Nancy Drew since my uncle Gary sent me an almost-complete collection of the old 30s-50s hard covers when I was eight. My favourite way to relax is still to hunker down with a good mystery novel. But my girl detective will be a little different. Her name is Natalie, her parents are recently divorced, she’s half-Jewish and half-Argentine (suspiciously like my sister), makes a zine, and goes to a downtown Toronto high school.
